An all-female helmed horror anthology featuring four dark tales written and directed by fiercely talented women: Annie Clark rocks her directorial debut with The Birthday Party; Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Girlfight) exorcises Her Only Living Son; Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound) screams Don’t Fall; and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird) dares to open The Box. Award-winning animator Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste) wraps together four suspenseful stories of terror featuring a cast including Natalie Brown, Melanie Lynskey, Breeda Wool and Christina Kirk.
Jovanka Vuckovic is an award-winning filmmaker and writer. Her first short film The Captured Bird was executive produced by Guillermo del Toro and played over 60 festivals across the globe, earning four Best Short Film awards. She has worked as a visual effects artist, earning a Gemini Award (Canadian Emmy), cemented a reputation as a genre film authority during her tenure as Editor-in-Chief of Rue Morgue Magazine, and was twice named one of the most important women in the history of horror alongside Mary Shelley (Frankenstein), Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and Debra Hill (Halloween). Vuckovic is the author of Zombies! An Illustrated History of the Undead (St. Martin's Press) and Vuckovic’s Horror Miscellany (Ilex Press). In 2014 she joined the Directors Guild of America after executive producing and directing part of XX, the upcoming first ever all-female horror anthology from Magnolia Pictures. She is set to direct the sci-fi action film Riot Girls from Clique Pictures, as well as the thriller All My Heroes Are Dead from her own script. She is also in development on a feature film adaptation of Clive Baker's Jacqueline Ess, the feature documentary How We Die with the producer of Blackfish, as well as a new scripted television series for Vice’s newly minted television channel Viceland.
