Katie directed Episode 3 (“The Bayside Triangle”) of Peacock’s new reboot of SAVED BY THE BELL, available to stream November 25.
Katie Locke O'Brien originally hails from New Hampshire and has directed for a multitude of premium, streaming, and cable platforms working with comedy legends such as Christopher Lloyd, Kenan Thompson, Bradley Whitford, and Tim Allen, among others. During Katie’s early directing career, she wrote and directed the festival short “Discard” and the 2018 short “Have It All,” which was a finalist for HBO's Insider Comedy Short Challenge at the Women in Comedy Festival, a semi-finalist for the NBC Short Film Competition and took home the Jury Prize for Narrative Short Films at Napa Valley Film Festival. Her 2023 independent comedy series DICK BUNNY premiered at Austin Film Festival and won Best Director at Seriesfest. In 2018, Katie was selected for the inaugural class of NBC's Female Forward Initiative which launched her episodic career and led to work on episodic comedies including Ghosts, The Santa Clauses, AP Bio, The Wonder Years, Perfect Harmony, Kenan, Blockbuster, and more. As a writer, Katie was selected for 2017’s prestigious Young & Hungry List, and she has developed projects with IFC, ABC, and WB. As an actress, Katie has appeared in series including Justified, Chuck, Community, and Weeds. She starred in and produced the 2019 festival feature The Thing Before the Thing, now streaming on Amazon. Next year, Katie will make her feature directorial debut with Hot Mess. Katie is repped by Gersh and Echo Lake Entertainment.
