Lana Wilson is an Emmy-winning director, writer, and producer. Her first film, AFTER TILLER (co-directed by Martha Shane), premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and went on to win an Emmy Award for Best Documentary. It was also nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, four Cinema Eye Honors, a Satellite Award, and the Ridenhour Prize. AFTER TILLER was theatrically released by Oscilloscope Laboratories. The film was named one of the five best documentaries of the year by the National Board of Review, and featured in "Best of 2013" lists in the LA Times, Village Voice, Indiewire, Artforum, and more. Wilson’s second feature film, THE DEPARTURE, recently premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim. Filmmaker Magazine called it “stunning,” Indiewire called it “immensely moving,” and Screen called it “an intimate, deeply felt engagement with profound matters of life and death.” On October 13 THE DEPARTURE will have its New York theatrical premiere at the Metrograph, followed by a release in 20+ cities across the US. Wilson also works in television. She was the writer and producer of “Jacked,” the pilot episode of the miniseries I AM REBEL, which tells the story of a Civil Rights activist who hijacked an airplane in 1972 to seek revenge for police brutality. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute. Previously, Wilson was the Film and Dance Curator of Performa, the New York biennial of new visual art performance.
