Pride Brunch

Celebrating Queer Voices in Entertainment

June 22 2024

Thanks for joining us for a cross-disciplinary Pride event celebrating queer voices in entertainment!

Film Fatales, The Alliance for Women Film Composers, Composers Diversity Collective, and members of  WGA, SAG-AFTRA, and IATSE invite you to join us for a Pride Brunch in Los Angeles celebrating queer voices in entertainment! Sponsored by BMI, SESAC, and Spectra Creative Agency.

Queers United in Entertainment (QUE) is committed to fostering an industry-wide standard where all individuals identifying as part of the LGBTQIA+(Queer) Culture are – and feel -included. Our mission is to serve as a resource in the film industry to positively influence the environment,to ensure the development of queer individuals, and support, develop and promote works made by individuals identifying as part of the Queer Community.

This was a chance for us to have meaningful discussions about ways we can promote and support one another. We loved seeing you there!

Community Partners

To round out Grammy Week 2024, in partnership with GLAAD and OUTLOUD, the Recording Academy launched Academy Proud – a new initiative aiming to support and amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and drive queer representation at not only the Recording Academy, but the music industry at-large.

Through advocacy, support and education, The Alliance for Women Film Composers aims to increase the visibility of women composers active in media scoring. The AWFC advocates for the inclusion of women composers within industry events; supports filmmakers, game developers and studios in their inclusion of women composers; and educates, mentors and inspires emerging women composers. Today, our efforts are inclusive of many gender categories that include women and femme identities.

Celebrating over 80 years of service to songwriters, composers, music publishers and businesses, BMI is a global leader in music rights management, serving as an advocate for the value of music. BMI represents the public performance rights in over 22.4 million musical works created and owned by more than 1.4 million songwriters, composers, and music publishers. The Company negotiates music license agreements and distributes the fees it generates as royalties to its affiliated writers and publishers when their songs are performed in public. In 1939, BMI created a groundbreaking open-door policy becoming the only performing rights organization to welcome and represent the creators of blues, jazz, country, and American roots music. Today, the musical compositions in BMI’s repertoire, from chart toppers to perennial favorites, span all genres of music and are consistently among the most-performed hits of the year.

The Composers Diversity Collective exists to eliminate the industry’s challenge to find culturally diverse music creators, music supervisors, sound engineers and musicians, to increase our own awareness of each other, and to dispel misconceptions about the stylistic range of any minority composer.

IATSE members work in all forms of live theater, motion picture and television production, trade shows and exhibitions, television broadcasting, and concerts as well as the equipment and construction shops that support all these areas of the entertainment industry. We are more than 168,000 workers strong in virtually all arts, media, and entertainment crafts, and our mission is to improve all entertainment workers’ lives both inside and outside the workplace.

SAG-AFTRA is composed of actors, announcers, broadcast journalists, dancers, dj’s, news writers, news directors, program hosts, puppeteers, recording artists, singers, stunt performers, voiceover artists and other media professionals. Our work is seen and heard in theaters, on television and radio, sound recordings, the internet, games, mobile devices, home video: you see us and hear us on all media distribution platforms. We are the faces and the voices that entertain and inform America and the world.

SESAC is a Performing Rights Organization recognized by the U.S. Copyright office, and if your customers can hear music in your business, then you likely need to secure a music performance license.

Spectra Creative Agency represents a diverse roster of talented composers for media scoring opportunities as well as a catalog of music available for licensing. We are driven by the desire and need to diversify the composer and artist landscape. Diverse stories deserve diverse storytellers, and that includes the music. We believe in leading with creativity and fostering collaboration. Does your project need music? Let’s have a conversation!

The WGA is a labor union representing the thousands of creators who write scripted series, features, news programs, and other content. Founded in 1933, the Guild negotiates and administers contracts that protect the creative and economic rights of our members. We are involved in a wide range of programs that advance the interests of writers, and are active in public policy and legislative matters on the local, national, and international levels.
