Synopsis
LONDON CALLING is a hybrid film blending nonfiction and fiction, centered on the director’s teenage experiences of substance abuse, limerence, and injustice.
Involving contemporary teens and people involved in the real events, the film opens at an underground hip-hop venue where 14-year-old Shannon, becomes infatuated with 17-year-old Rob after a chance encounter. Her obsession, fuelled by her neglected home life, grows as she fantasizes about him. Shannon begins to stalk Rob, leading her to dangerous places and situations.
After a gang incident, Shannon witnesses Rob being brutally beaten by police. In an attempt to save him, she testifies against the police in court, where her dreams of love and justice are shattered. Despite the chaos and pain, Shannon finds hope in a group of activists and a renewed determination to fight for her future through art.
