Synopsis

Set in a small-minded midwestern town, FILTHY is a semi-autobiographical story inspired by my childhood growing up in Arkansas during the purity movement. The film tells the story of CASS, 13, who's preparing to sign a ‘purity pledge’ to remain a virgin until marriage. But on the eve of the ceremony, slated to happen before family and friends from her Evangelical church, Cass experiences her first orgasm and a sexual awakening erupts pitting natural hormonal desire against the threat of eternal damnation. FILTHY is a bold narrative that damns the belief system of the purity movement, not the belief.
