Synopsis

Yeah we’re Hasidic, yeah we have a million babies, and yeah we can totally rock in a bad!” drummer Dalia Shusterman, declares. She and lead singer Perl Wolfe, form the first all-female Hasidic rock band BULLETPROOF STOCKINGS. Challenging gender norms in their community, playing for women-only audiences, their defiance of traditional beliefs about rock music and female public performances creates waves. Coming from personal hardships—Dalia, a widowed mother of four, and Perl, twice-divorced by 26—fully commit to their partnership and life—home, childcare, and finances. Their sound, drawing comparisons to Florence and the Machine, attracts media attention but faces community backlash. Balancing fame with their values and differing views on feminism and religion leads to the band's split, with Dalia staying religious and Perl opting for a secular path. Eventually, acknowledging their role in inspiring musicians, they reunite, reconcile, and release their album.
