Synopsis
MRS. M was a key advisor to NY Governor Al Smith in the 1920s when women had just won the right to vote in America. Belle exercised power in her own unique way, often knitting in the corner of cabinet meetings. The legendary master politician certainly lefter her mark on NY and the country. Moskowitz hired and trained Robert Moses and brought him into the governor's circle. She created much of Smith’s legislative agenda, later inherited by FDR, precursors to the New Deal. Belle helped Smith win the Democratic presidential nomination in 1928, the first Roman Catholic to do so.
