Synopsis
WE / US opens with a sapphic play party, disrupted when latecomers Claire and Evie arrive. Before the play even begins, Evie’s 13-year-old son, Jesse, calls her with alarming news of a fire at home, prompting Evie and Claire to leave the party abruptly. As they rush home, they find the aftermath of Jesse's attempt to handle the situation, resulting in chaos and damage to the house.
The pilot follows Evie and Claire as they navigate the challenges of blending queer community and family life. Evie deals with the fallout of Jesse's actions, including a plumbing disaster that leads to a surprising financial nightmare. Meanwhile, Claire tries to pursue her passion for fashion design while trying to pay attention to Waylon, the neglected “good” kid.
All of this is complicated by a group of “Dolls” (hyperfeminine trans women) doing a charity calendar photoshoot in the backyard, Claire’s exploration of polyamory, and a late night pickup game of basketball with “a meth head.”
