Synopsis
JOURNEY TO SISTERHOOD is a live action documentary, with some animation, that explores building connections and community by following a grassroots project composed of predominantly female volunteers spanning across class, religion, and age as they make and provide reusable feminine hygiene kits for girls in Cameroon.
During their voyage, the Americans distribute kits to school aged girls and endeavor to make this process self-sustaining by training Cameroonian women to make the kits locally. As the group aims to build unity with their Cameroonian counterparts, tensions among some of the Americans arise. Meanwhile, unity among the Cameroonians is also threatened as political issues between the English and French speaking provinces continues to brew, derailing some of the travelers' plans.
